Notice to Rutland Waterworks District customers affected by the City of Kelowna sanitary sewer system project

Posted: June 5, 2023

Dear Rutland Waterworks District customer:

As you are aware, the City of Kelowna is in the process of installing a sanitary sewer system in your neighbourhood. The proposed sewer works have been reviewed by Rutland Waterworks District (the District), and several changes have been made to minimize the number of water service interruptions.

In conjunction with the sewer project, the District is taking the opportunity to renew vulnerable and aging parts of the water system. Work will include the replacement of domestic water service piping where it crosses a road, and the replacement of sections of watermain piping where they could be adversely impacted by sewer excavation work. Work will be performed by the same contractor that is installing the sewer system (CGL Contracting) and inspected by the District.

In order to complete the sewer installation and water system renewal work, parts of the water system will need to be periodically shut down for short periods of time. You will receive advance notice of these shutdowns.

Once renewal work has been completed, property restoration to original or better condition will follow.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office at 250-765-5218.
